A 60-page board pack feels like governance. It usually isn't. The real test of financial reporting isn't how much gets produced — it's how many decisions it actually changes.

A well-formatted monthly report isn't the same as management information. If nobody's decision changes when the numbers arrive, it's just data with a nicer layout.
